Our Story
Hydrowash® was born in 2022 with a simple mission – to create the most indulgent and effective hair and body care products using high quality, ethically sourced ingredients.
As a startup based in Los Angeles, California, we’re a small but mighty team of skin and haircare enthusiasts with a passion for using the power of nature to nourish our bodies. We love seeking out potent botanical extracts and innovative formulas that cleanse and condition without stripping the skin and hair of its natural moisture.
The journey began when our founder, Jane, struggled for years to find a shampoo that truly nourished her dry, damaged hair. After experimenting with countless products with harsh sulfates and parabens, she realized there had to be a better way. She teamed up with a cosmetic chemist to develop a formula that cleaned hair without stripping its oils and helps repair damage over time.
When Jane shared her sulfate-free, intensely hydrating shampoo with friends and family, she received incredible feedback. Everyone reported noticeably stronger, softer and shinier hair after just a few uses. It was clear this wasn’t just another shampoo – Hydrowash® Shampoo represented a new era in effective, non-toxic haircare.
Bolstered by the enthusiastic response, Jane expanded the Hydrowash® product line to include equally indulgent body washes. Like our shampoo, the body washes are powered by luxurious oils and butters like argan, jojoba, shea and cocoa. These high quality ingredients work synergistically to give skin a major moisture boost while gently cleansing away dirt and bacteria.

Our Products
Hydrowash® Shampoo
Our fan favorite Hydrowash® Shampoo is the hero product that started it all. This sulfate-free formula is infused with nutrient-rich oils like argan, jojoba and grapeseed to deeply nourish strands from root to tip. It gently cleanses away dirt and buildup without stripping hair of its natural oils, leaving it bouncy, soft and healthy-looking.
The star ingredients include:
- Argan oil – Smooths and repairs damaged hair while adding shine
- Jojoba oil – Mimics scalp’s natural oils for soft, strong hair
- Grapeseed oil – Lightweight oil that boosts hydration
- Aloe vera – Soothes scalp and helps retain moisture
- Panthenol – Repairs split ends and improves elasticity
This daily use shampoo is safe for all hair types. It’s color-safe, cruelty free, vegan and made without harsh chemicals.
Hydrowash® Body Washes
Indulge your skin with our decadent sulfate-free body washes. Available in three luscious scents, each formula drenches skin in a surge of oils and butters to leave it touchably soft, smooth and hydrated.
Coconut Lime

Like our shampoo, the body washes are sulfate-free, vegan and crafted without harsh chemicals. The moisturizing formulas are gentle enough for daily use by all skin types.
Our Ingredients
We take our ingredient selection very seriously at Hydrowash®. Our standards for choosing ingredients are simple:
- Natural: We use plant-based ingredients like botanical oils, butters, extracts and essential oils as much as possible.
- Safe: Our ingredients must be free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde and other harsh chemicals.
- Effective: Every ingredient serves a purpose, like cleansing, moisturizing or boosting foam. No fillers.
- Ethical: We source from organic farmers we trust to provide high quality ingredients through fair trade practices.
- Sustainable: Many of our ingredients are upcycled food byproducts like oils from fruit seeds. This reduces waste in the food system.
- Local: When possible, we source ingredients from farmers in California and the western United States to reduce our carbon footprint.
Our Manufacturing Process
We take small batch craftsmanship seriously when making Hydrowash® products. Our shampoos and body washes are produced by hand in limited quantities to ensure exceptional quality.
It starts by carefully measuring out ingredients per the master formula. Oils, butters, extracts and essential oils are combined in stainless steel vats and gently heated. Next, thickening agents and foaming agents are whisked in. We use gentle foaming agents derived from corn and coconuts instead of sulfates, which can be harsh and stripping.
The mixture is left to thicken and stabilize before being run through the homogenizer for an extra smooth, creamy texture. Then it’s time for the fun part – scenting and coloring! We add our proprietary essential oil blends at this stage for each scent, followed by micas and natural clays for a rich color palette.
Once fully mixed, the liquid body wash and shampoo bases are poured into bottles through a fine mesh screen to catch any leftovers. Bottles are sealed, labeled, and packed in boxes to send to our fulfillment center. Orders are shipped out within 1-2 business days to deliver the freshest products to your door.
Our Commitment to Ethical and Sustainable Practices
At Hydrowash®, we aim to positively impact communities and the planet through our ethical and sustainable business practices. This encompasses:
- Ingredients: We source from organic farmers through fair trade. Our suppliers uphold safe labor practices and steward the land for future generations.
- Packaging: Our bottles contain 25-50% post-consumer recycled plastic. Boxes are made with 100% recycled paper. We’re working on reducing single-use plastics.
- Production: Our small batch process minimizes energy, waste and emissions. We use green chemistry principles and avoid toxic chemicals.
- Labor practices: Employees receive fair pay, excellent benefits, and a collaborative work environment. We donate 1% of profits to social & environmental justice causes.
- Climate action: Our facilities run on renewable energy. We plant trees to offset business-related emissions and contribute to reforestation nonprofits. Company transportation utilizes electric vehicles when possible.
- Community: We support women/minority owned businesses whenever we can for services. 1% of profits help provide basic necessities to at-risk communities.

Meet Our Team
Jane Smith, Founder and CEO
Jane founded Hydrowash® in 2022 after struggling for years to find clean haircare that effectively nourished and repaired her dry, damaged hair. She teamed up with a cosmetic chemist to develop the sulfate-free, ultra-hydrating formula that would become the first Hydrowash® Shampoo. The incredible response from family and friends inspired Jane to launch a full line of luxurious, non-toxic bath and body products. She continues to oversee product development and operations as the business expands.
Dr. Angela Park, Cosmetic Chemist
Dr. Angela Park is a cosmetic chemist with over 15 years of experience developing personal care products. She collaborated with Jane to create the original Hydrowash® shampoo formula. Angela holds a PhD in Chemistry from Caltech and loves using green chemistry principles to craft high-performing products with safe, natural ingredients. She heads up the R&D lab where new Hydrowash® product concepts come to life.
Rico Chen, Creative Director
Rico oversees the brand image and creative direction of Hydrowash® as our Creative Director. He leads packaging design and ensures our branding and marketing material consistently align with our ethos and aesthetic. Rico has a Master’s in Branding from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. When he’s not immersed in the Hydrowash® world, Rico is probably out taking nature photography.
Eva Wright, Digital Marketing Strategist
Eva manages our digital marketing campaigns, social media, and online content as Hydrowash®‘s resident Digital Marketing Strategist. She helps connect our brand with people and spread the word about our indulgent shampoos and body washes. Eva holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and is knowledgable about all things digital media and e-commerce.
